“I just keep pinching myself to make sure I'm awake!!!! We have successfully downloaded a complete batch of files, verified them, and sent all information to the departments within a span of about 2 hours.
I can't thank you enough for working so hard to make this day finally happen. We anticipate a great increase in the number of online applications we will be getting this year, especially since, in tandem with the Nolij project, we have redesigned all the Graduate Admissions web pages in such a way that all potential applicants will be directed through the online process. Because of this and the desire of several of our big departments to use this as their only source for applications, the Nolij project takes on even greater significance for us.
After passing off the first batch to the two ladies who have had the arduous task of manually entering applications, it gave me extreme pleasure to watch their excitement grow as they realized what they had just been given. I went back later to find them chattering on about "what this means" they will now be able to do and how much time it will save them and on and on. While this may seem a childish reaction, in their case it is not because they are accustomed to working 10 hour days, never getting caught up, and constantly being criticized for taking too long to get info to the departments. For them, this is a real "load-lifting" experience.
So -- it's a good day in Graduate Admissions and we all thank all who helped make it possible.”
